How to Remove RC and RCE for DVD with Passkey?
Region Code (RC) is a DRM technique developed to allow movie studios to control DVD/Blu-ray releases according to the region, including content, release date, and price. RC is encoded in the DVD/Blu-ray video disc to restrict the area in which it can be played.
Region Code Enhanced (RCE) is used on a handful of DVD discs (such as Warner Bros and Columbia DVDs) to prevent the playing of region 1 disc in another region, even if the disc is played in a region free player. The region 1 disc also contains a short video loop of a map of the world showing the regions, which is coded as region 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. So that when the disc is played in a non-region 1 player, the player would play the material for its native region by default.
So if you want to play a DVD with a different region code in your region specific DVD player, or if you want to play a region 1 DVD while your player is not in region 1, how can you make the play successful? Lucky that we have Passkey for DVD!
Passkey can remove RC, RCE and other DVD protections you may encounter such as CSS, CPRM, CPPM, APS, UOPs, ARccOS, RipGuard, etc.
Run Passkey DVD Decrypter, and insert the source DVD disc into your DVD player. If it's the first time you manipulate this disc with Passkey, then you'll be asked to choose a region code. Then Passkey will open it.
After it's opened in seconds, you can go to Info page to see that RC and RCE have been removed, along with other protections that Passkey can find.
OK, now that the disc is region free, just play it freely and enjoy yourself!
